A FATAL road accident at the end of last month has claimed its second victim.
Ninety-three-year-old Mr Peter Chrystal, who was driving a Volvo car, died at the scene of the crash on Saturday, October 29 at 4.45pm on the A181 at the entrance of Wingate Grange Farm, near Wheatley Hill, County Durham.
The front seat passenger of a Renault Clio also involved in the accident, Joan Vasey, 74, was taken to the University Hospital of Hartlepool, where she was detained in intensive care with chest injuries.
A spokesman at Durham Police headquarters at Aykley Heads, revealed yesterday that Mrs Vasey, who came from Sherburn Village, near Durham City, died at the hospital on Tuesday evening.
The 75-year-old driver of the Renault Clio was treated for minor injuries at the same hospital immediately after the accident.
The force's accident investigation unit made an appeal for witnesses at the time of the accident and yesterday repeated their appeal for anyone who may have seen the incident to contact 0191-375 2159.
