Aspers Casino, which opened at The Gate Newcastle last week, has appointed Paul Scott as hospitality manager.
Mr Scott, 38, from Wallsend, North Tyneside, was restaurant manager at Dobbies Garden Centre, in Ponteland, Northumberland, where he oversaw catering as well as part of a £5m redevelopment project.
Before that, he worked at Michelin-starred 21 Queen Street in Newcastle for 11 years. He started at the exclusive restaurant as a waiter, but was soon promoted to manage three other restaurants in the group.
Mr Scott said: "Working for Aspers is a fantastic opportunity for me. I'm constantly challenged here - heading up a team of about 50, there is never a dull moment.
"Aspers is certainly set to be a top destination for a night out in Newcastle and not only for the brilliant gaming facilities, but also for a great meal or for drinks with friends in the Air Bar or Lady O's."
Aspers at the Gate employs more than 180 people - from dealers to hospitality staff, receptionists to cocktail flairers - and more that 98 per cent come from Tyneside.
