A RECYCLING centre is to open today to deal with items of household waste.
Haverton Hill Household Waste Recycling Facility will be able to take good furniture, IT equipment and electrical goods, thanks to a partnership between councils and the private and voluntary sectors.
Electrical equipment will be tested and, if re-usable, will be refurbished, instead of being incinerated, as before.
Following new Hazardous Waste Regulations some types of household waste are now classed as hazardous.
The Haverton Hill site is able to accept these for safe disposal and recycling.
