A VOLUNTEER is being awarded for her dedicated work in the community.
Pensioner Muriel Boreland is being honoured with a Year of the Volunteer Award for Inspiration.
The chairwoman of the Brougham Area Residents Association, Hartlepool, will be presented with her award - a medal struck by the Royal Mint - on Friday by Hartlepool MP Iain Wright.
The award recognises the 63-year-old's achievements in encouraging residents to become more involved in their community.
Muriel was nominated for the award by Eddie Price, Housing Hartlepool's resident participation officer.
She said: "I am very honoured to receive the award, but I view it as recognition of the hard work which everyone has put into our community."
