PLANS for a mobile phone mast to be erected in a golf club's grounds are expected to be approved tomorrow.
Vodafone has applied to Darlington Borough Council for permission to site the 24-metre mast at Blackwell Grange Golf Club, off Briar Close.
The mast has been designed to look like a Cypress tree, but has attracted letters of objection from nearby homeowners and the Blackwell Grange Residents' Association.
They say the mast is inappropriate for the area, too close to houses and will be clearly visible in winter.
However, the council's planning committee is being urged to support the proposals. A report from council officers says the mast would "assimilate into its surroundings by reason of its design and colour".
