BRAVE Neil Turton had his hairy chest waxed to give a company's fundraising effort for Children in Need a flying start.
Neil, from Kelloe, who works on the trade counter at builders' merchants Archibalds's head office at Dragonville, in Durham, offered to undergo the beauty treatment, which was performed by Lynn Errington, of the Headquarterz salon, in Silver Street, Durham.
The event raised about £250 for the charity appeal after a customer who saw what was going on decided to join in and have his chest made smoother.
Staff at the company are doing a series of fundraising activities including holding raffles, tombolas, collections dressed as Pudsey Bear. Last year they raised about £350.
Receptionist Carol Carr said: "Neil was very brave. He didn't think it was as bad as he thought it was going to be. The guys had been winding him up about it.'
