Mr Carr's role as channel manager will involve engaging with banks, accountants, lawyers, trades unions, customs and local authorities, as well as people considering setting up in business, to deliver the message about the support available from Business Link.

"We want to encourage organisations to signpost customers to us, positioning Business Link as the central point of contact for business support," he said.

Mr Carr was recently head of marketing for a Middlesbrough recruitment agency.

Outside work, Mr Carr enjoys watersports, cycling and playing classical guitar.
