A NORTH-EAST businessman has been found garotted in his bed after flying to Pakistan to meet his estranged wife.
The body of Mohammed Mirza Jacob, 70, was discovered by his nephew, who became concerned after not hearing from him.
The pensioner was found with a wire around his neck and a murder inquiry was launched.
Mr Jacob, who lived in Newcastle and had an interest in a number of properties in the region, had flown out to Rawalpindi for a meeting with the family of his estranged wife, Aisha.
Two men, including Aisha's brother, have been charged with the killing.
Mohammed Jamshed, her brother, and Farman Sitar have been remanded in custody.
It is understood that Mr Jacob, who had dual nationality, and Aisha had an arranged marriage about five years ago. They then came to live in the region and had one son, before separating.
