QUAKERS bosses have unveiled their third stadium sponsor in as many years.
As predicted by The Northern Echo in August, Darlington Football Club revealed yesterday that Teesside radio station TFM would be sponsoring the 25,000-seater former Reynolds Arena.
The stadium has not had a sponsor since August - when the club failed to strike a new deal with car dealership Williamson Motors, which had sponsored the Neasham Road ground for a year.
But yesterday's announcement coincided with a landmark match for the club today against second-placed Wycombe Wanderers.
Earlier this week, chairman Stewart Davies flew in two of his private jets to promote what he sees as a key game in his "under-performing" team's season.
He said: "We think we are the best team in the league and Wycombe are second and unbeaten all season. If we can beat them, the team can prove what we already know."
Yesterday, he said the new deal would mean the stadium would be used for more non-footballing activities, which would be promoted by TFM.
Mr Davies said: "We have a partner in TFM that can offer the club much more than just sponsorship. We will work together to raise the profile of the club."
From now on, Darlington Football Stadium will be known as the 96.6TFM Darlington Arena.
The stadium opened in the summer of 2003 and has banqueting and hospitality suites.
