A FOOTBALL club chairman is looking to the skies for inspiration when his club take on high-flying rivals this Saturday.
Darlington FC chairman Stewart Davies is hoping his team's season will be given a big boost when they play Wycombe Wanderers this weekend.
And to prove a point to his players, he brought his personal collection of fighter jets to the North-East.
Mr Davies, who has a pilot's licence, brought the former RAF Provost Jet Mk4 and Provost Jet Mk5 planes to Durham Tees Valley Airport to promote what he sees as a critical match in Darlington's season.
The match kicks off at 2.30pm and, afterwards, the England versus Argentina friendly will be beamed back to Darlington's stadium where the South Stand will remain open and the match shown on the stadium's big screen.
During the half-time break of the England match, the club's assistant manager, Mark Proctor, and youth development officer Mick Tait will have a full wax treatment on the centre spot to raise money for Children in Need.
Fans will be able to buy refreshments from the outlets in the stadium concourse, or use the at-seat waiter service for the occasion.
Bar 66 and the Corner Bar will both be open until midnight with live entertainment.
Mr Davies said: "We hope that fans will enjoy an extended afternoon's entertainment."
