THE friends of Durham Cathedral are preparing for two major fundraising efforts in coming weeks.
Members of the group at their recent 72nd general meeting approved grants totalling £246,000 towards the upkeep of the Norman-built World Heritage site.
Its next fundraising event is a sale and coffee morning at Durham Town Hall, on Saturday, from 9.30am to noon.
The entrance fee is 50p, including tea, coffee and biscuits, and all are welcome. It will include book, card, DVD, CD, white elephant and produce stalls, plus a raffle and children's lucky dip.
Tickets are now available for next month's Friends of Durham Cathedral Christmas Concert, at the cathedral, on Friday, December 9, at 7.30pm.
They cost £5 each for friends and £10 for non-members. Everyone is welcome, with refreshments available in the Cloisters from 6.30pm.
Tickets are available from the friends' office, on 0191-384 5266, or the Durham Tourist Information Office, on 0191-384 3720.
