TWO of the region's brightest young sports stars are teaming up to open facilities for residents of an isolated dale.
A £1.3m sports hall development at Wolsingham School and Community College, in Weardale, County Durham, will be used by the public outside school hours.
It will be opened on Saturday afternoon by 19-year-old England rugby international Mathew Tait, who grew up in the village, and Paralympic gold medallist and world record holder Stephen Miller, from Tyneside.
The event also celebrates the school's status as a Performing Arts College, with a famous neighbour Pet Shop Boy Neil Tennant as patron.
The sports hall and new drama, dance and music facilities are on show from 3pm.
Headteacher Andrea Crawshaw said: "These are first class facilities which will make a difference to our students and the community."
