ANOTHER £800 has been raised by Weardale villagers to help victims of last year's tsunami in Sri Lanka.
The money came from a table top sale held in Frosterley Village Hall at the weekend by the Weardale Tsunami Relief Fund, set up by garage owner Tony Watson his wife, Myrtle, who have a villa in Sri Lanka.
It will be paid into a bank account, set up by the Watsons to help rebuild the lives of people in a Sri Lankan village, devastated by the tsunami. A total of £11,300 has now been paid into the fund.
"We are very grateful to all the people here in Weardale - and from farther afield - who have given to the fund," said Mrs Watson. "I think it has been so successful because we have been able to mount a display of photographs and cuttings showing exactly where the money has gone to."
