GEOGRAPHY students at Teesside High School in Eaglescliffe enjoyed a field trip with a difference.
For while the school held an open day on Saturday, one party of year 12 took the opportunity to make a flying visit to Iceland.
Geography teacher Katherine Chamberlain accompanied Laura Livesey, 16, from Hutton Rudby, Sarah Walker, 16, from Yarm, and Cherrie Earl, 16, also from Yarm.
They flew from Leeds/Bradford airport at 7am, returning home at 9pm.
After arriving in Reykjavik they visited the Gullfoss waterfall to see Iceland's famous geysers.
Mrs Chamberlain said: "We took advantage of the 'Fly to Iceland for a day' package to illustrate the work we've been doing on volcanic activity.
"It'll was a long day but a big adventure, and something the girls have been wanting to do since starting the course.
