FIREFIGHTERS have visited a school to praise pupils for their efforts to highlight the dangers of fireworks.
Pupils from St Mark's Elm Tree Primary School, Stockton, took part in a poster competition that was organised by the town's Co-operative Funeral Service.
And the Cleveland firefighters turned up to award the three winners - Elliott McGlade, six, Courtney McCartem, eight, and Nicholas Williams, ten - with certificates and book tokens.
Their work, which warns of the dangers and misuse of fireworks, and encourages bonfire safety, will be displayed around the school for their fellow students to enjoy, and hopefully to learn from.
One of the judges, Jenette Sisson, assistant manager of the Co-op, said: "It was really hard judging the work because the standards were all very high, but it was also important to get involved and try to warn children of the potential risks."
