THE longest-serving worker at an engineering company is swapping his steel toe-capped boots for dancing shoes.
Gordon Low, 65, has retired after more than 28 years with the Tanfield Group's engineering division, in Stanley, County Durham.
A ballroom and Latin dance instructor, he now plans to concentrate on running sequence dances.
Mr Low, who also spent many years as shop steward for the Amicus union, said: "I have no regrets and have always enjoyed my time at work."
He began his career in 1955, and trained as an apprentice with Vickers Armstrong, in Newcastle. In 1968, he left for the Swan Hunter shipyard, in North Tyneside.
Roy Stanley, of Tanfield Group, said: "He has been an incredibly wise head and we are really going to miss him."
