TEACHERS in County Durham are being urged to use the region's history and heritage to liven up lessons.
Heritage Education Around Durham (Head) is a collective of museums, libraries and archives that have united to promote their facilities and resources to teachers.
Secondary school staff can find out what is available at Bishop Auckland Town Hall Library, next Thursday, from 4pm to 7pm.
Sarah Gouldsbrough, Durham County Council's schools development officer, said: "We hope to encourage teachers to find out what is available on their doorstep and how it can be used to enrich the National Curriculum.
"Although we primarily offer heritage and history, this is not the only inspiration we can provide.
"Recent projects have included work in the arts, creative writing, citizenship, leisure and tourism projects, and work with gifted and talented students."
Ms Gouldsbrough, at the Durham Light Infantry Museum and Durham Art Gallery, can be contacted on 0191-384 2214.
