TRADING standards chiefs have suspended the sale of certain fireworks from Aldi stores amid fears they could cause problems.
The fireworks are two selection packs called Spider and Viper, two packs of rockets called Sydney and Rio and a large Roman candle called Apollo.
The fireworks should carry information about the safe distances from which they can be viewed, but they do not carry the appropriate labels.
The suspension notices prohibit any further supply of the fireworks and are part of a nationwide alert.
North Yorkshire County Council's executive member for community services, John Fort, said: "People need to take care with all fireworks and to do this they need accurate instructions for safe use.
"I would urge anyone who thinks that they have any of these fireworks to take them back to the nearest branch of Aldi and ask for a replacement."
He added: "I would caution against trying to guess what the safe distance might be when setting them off.
"There is too much scope for confusion and that confusion could lead to an injury."
