A CALL has been made for people to dig out items of wartime memorabilia to contribute to a national digital archive.
The BBC Radio Newcastle Big Blue Bus will be parked outside Age Concern County Durham's headquarters, in Atherton Street, Durham, next Wednesday, from 10am to 2pm.
Radio Newcastle is broadcasting its 10am to 1pm show, presented by Ian Robinson and Paul Wappatt, live from the bus.
Members of the public are urged to take along any old items dating from the war years, from ration books, to old photographs and recipes, and ID cards, to be scanned into the BBC People's War project website.
The site is a database of documents and images which is building a picture of war-time life in Britain.
Anyone with something which they believe is worthy of inclusion is asked to first ring Marianne Patterson, of Age Concern County Durham, to arrange a time slot to take along the item.
Everyone attending Wednesday's event can call into Age Concern House, in Atherton Street, from 10am to 2pm, for refreshments.
Ms Patterson can be contacted on 0191-374 6364, or 0191-386 3856.
