THE mother of a young woman murdered five years ago has issued a fresh appeal to help catch her killer.
On November 3, 2000, the naked body of prostitute Vicky Glass was found on the North York Moors, near Danby, close to Whitby.
The 21-year-old had gone missing while working in Middlesbrough the previous September, but the murderer has never been caught.
Today, her mother, Deborah Goodall, and stepfather, Colin, said they would never give up hope the killer would be found.
Mrs Goodall said: "It has been hard these five years, and it is still hard. Finding out who is responsible will not end our grief; that will go on until the day we die.
"This is not about how we feel, it is about Vicky and finding out who killed our daughter.
"But, even when the killer is caught and justice is done, I will have this with me for the rest of my life."
Vicky, who lived in Stockton before she moved to Middlesbrough, turned to prostitution to feed a drug habit, but her mother has appealed for people to think of her daughter as any other young woman.
Mrs Goodall, who has two other children, said: "She fell in with the wrong crowd after about 18, but before that she was a beautiful child with a twinkle in her eye. I believe somebody knows something. If they are frightened, they should not be. If they are protecting somebody, believe me, they are not worth protecting."
Police said the search for Vicky's killer would continue. Anyone with information is asked to call (01642) 326326.
