A BARE-CHESTED knifeman who terrorised his neighbours was jailed for a year yesterday.
Darren Whitelock, 37, made slashing motions with an 8in kitchen knife as he threatened to kill a neighbour in a Middlesbrough street, Teesside Crown Court heard.
Whitelock had accused a man of smashing windows in his partner's home, where he had lived for two years.
One neighbour was so scared of him that he installed a security camera trained on Whitelock's house.
Richard Newbury, prosecuting, said six neighbours saw the knife incident.
Police went armed with stun guns to arrest Whitelock.
When he opened his door, he was told to kneel and put his hands on his head. He was then handcuffed and arrested.
Paul Cleasby, in mitigation, said Whitelock had convictions for assault and affray, but none in the past 14 years.
Whitelock pleaded guilty to causing an affray in Gifford Street, Middlesbrough, on March 19 and possessing a knife as an offensive weapon.
He has since moved to another address in Middlesbrough to look after his invalid father.
He was also given a two-year anti-social behaviour order.
