A GROUP is being set up to look after the first park to be created in Darlington in a century.
A meeting is being held tomorrow for anyone interested in shaping the future of West Park, in the Faverdale area.
Those involved in creating and managing the park will be there and it is hoped local residents will also attend.
The meeting has been arranged by Darlington Borough Council's countryside team, which is keen to establish a volunteer friends group to help run the park.
It is hoped the Friends of West Park will meet regularly and advise on issues connected with the future of the area.
Councillor Lee Vasey, the council's cabinet member for leisure services, said: "The more people who are involved, the better we can protect the future of this fantastic new park on our doorsteps. Anyone interested in the future of the park and ensuring that it offers something for everyone should come to the meeting."
The meeting will be held at Alderman Leach Primary School at 6.30pm. For details, call Rob George on (01325) 388637.
