A WOMAN in her mid-twenties was helped from a Ford Fiesta on a spinal board after it was in collision with a Volvo lorry yesterday. The crash happened on Drum Road, in Chester-le-Street, at 3.45pm. The woman, who was driving the car, suffered minor head and hand injuries and was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, in Gateshead.
Folk concert: Folk singer Judith Murphy will perform a concert for the Bowburn Banner Group called The Life and Times of Tommy Armstrong and His Wives And Other Pitmen Musicians, on Friday, November 25, at 8pm, in Crowtrees Workingmen's Club, Bowburn. The event is free and admission is on a first come, first served basis.
CHRISTMAS FAIR: A Christmas craft fair, with all produce made by young people suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome, known as ME, takes place in Bullion Hall, in Chester-le-Street, on Saturday, November 12. COFFEE AND MEMORIES: Old photographs of Tanfield Lea will be on display during a coffee morning at the Methodist church, in the village, on Saturday, November 12. The event is from 10am to noon and all are welcome.
RESIDENTS' SURGERIES: Two surgeries in which people can meet their local councillors and police beat officers take place on Monday. The first is at Carrville Methodist Church Hall, from 6pm to 6.45pm, followed by a second in Belmont Library, from 7pm to 7.45pm.
Book sale: The Durham group of Voluntary Service Overseas will hold a sale of secondhand books on Saturday, November 12, between 9.30am and 4pm, in St Nicholas Church Hall, Market Place, Durham.
Conservatory plan: Durham City Council is being asked to grant planning permission for a conservatory to be built at the back of a house in Windsor Court, Croxdale.
Rock night: Diamondback will be playing rock and blues covers at The Daisy Hill pub, Heugh Edge, Sacriston, on Friday, starting at 8.30pm. Admission costs £1.
Village advice: Durham Citizens Advice Bureau will hold an advice session on Tuesday, in Coxhoe Village Hall, from 2pm to 3pm. No appointment is necessary.
Houses plan: Chester-le-Street District Council is being asked to grant planning permission to demolish a bungalow in Wheatletwell Lane, Plawsworth, and build two four-bedroomed houses on the site.
STAR TURNS: Stanley Lamplight Arts Centre is hosting a Stars In Your Eyes night on Friday, from 7pm. Fifteen youth clubs from County Durham will take part, with 33 acts and more than 115 young people, aged six to 20 taking part.
