YOUNGSTERS can now take on a new challenge at a woodland adventure play area.
Forest chiefs have commissioned a safe clambering course made out of 300 metres of metal chains strung between the trees to mark the new Active Woods scheme.
The aim is to navigate the circular course without touching the ground, using the chains as an aerial walkway.
Staff at Guisborough Forest said it was the perfect way to have fun, keep fit and discover if you are well-balanced.
Forest ranger Cath Brason said: "It is play furniture with a real difference and part of a new picnic and amenity area being created in the forest. It is just over 1ft off the ground and split into 17 segments, so it is very safe and likely to be just as popular with grown-ups as children."
Officials received £5,000 from the National Lottery, secured by the Friends of Guisborough Forest, working with the Forestry Commission and Cleveland and Redcar Borough Council.
The money will also help pay for a project to attract more young people into the woodland.
