NORWEGIAN Rallycross star, Harald Sachweh, is the latest European Rallycross driver to confirm that he will race in the 2005 Rallycross Superprix, which will take place at Croft Circuit on Sunday, November 6.
"I am looking forward to the last race of the season at Croft, " he said. "We have had a lot of minor problems with the car during the last few races. "Before the race at Croft we will test for the first time some new things for the 2006 season. If this test ends successfully, then we will be using these enhancements in the Rallycross Superprix."
Sachweh graduated to the Division 1 category at the beginning of the year after purchasing the ex-Martin Schanche Opel Astra from Glenn Voie.
He enjoyed his best result of the season, during the Swedish round of the European Rallycross Championship, just missing out on a place in the A final.
"I was at Croft last year as a spectator, and I decided at that very moment that this was a race I had to do, " he said.
This will be the first time that Sachweh has raced at the Croft Circuit, but he will be determined to end the season on a high note. His Rallycross career contains many highlights, including finishing as runner-up in the 2003 and 2004 European Rallycross Championship, in the Division 2 category.
The current British Rallycross Championship leader, Pat Doran has also confirmed that he will be racing in the 2005 Rallycross Superprix at the wheel of his dynamic Ford Fiesta. Doran will be looking for nothing less than a win, on a circuit that he always seems to go well on.
This will be the first time this season that the three-time British Rallycross Grand Prix winner will have raced against European opposition with the Fiesta, but he is sure to be fronting the English charge for glory.
Ken Hall, will return to Rallycross action in the event, completing the entry with his Ford Escort RS2000.
Rallycross Promoters Ltd have decided that the Division 1A and Super Series 2000 categories will race together, but they will still race for respective class honours.
The maximum entry has been reached in the Division 1, Super National, Junior and Minicross categories, with only one place remaining in Stock Hatch and the combined Division 1A/Super Series 2000 category.
Blob Per Eklund has also confirmed entry to the event. Eklund will replace Chris Cake on the 20 car Division one entry list, after Cake's deal to hire a Division 1 VW Golf collapsed.
Cake will now move to the Rallycross Super Series 2000 category, where he will now drive the Mark Williams' Mitsubishi Lancer.
Eklund has had a successful first season with his Division 1 'Kumho Tyres' backed Saab 9-3 Aero Sport Sedan and will be a guaranteed contender for the overall victory.
He finished sixth in the European Rallycross championship and only just missed out on winning the Swedish Rallycross Championship, finishing second behind Lars Larsson.
His last visit to Croft was back in 2002, finishing second overall behind Irishman John Haffey.
