A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD girl's hobby has won her national acclaim for calf-handling.
With a string of successes at local shows already to her credit, Diane Watson, of West Lodge, Leppington, near Malton, has been praised by judges after being placed seventh in the All Breeds, All Britain Calf Show at Stoneleigh, in Warwickshire - despite being the youngest competitor.
Diane, a pupil at Howsham Hall School, was told she was destined for higher accolades.
It followed the Yorkshire Holstein Calf Show, where she was placed first, and Stokesley Show, where she has scooped top honours two years in succession. She was also placed second in her class at Ryedale Show this year.
Diane spends hours at her grandfather Stan Featherstone's farm at Crayke, washing, grooming and training her Holstein calf, Rosie.
