A 16-YEAR-OLD boy has been attacked by a gang in Darlington's Stanhope Park.
The teenager suffered a broken wrist and a gash to his head during the unprovoked assault which happened at about 9.30pm to 10pm on Friday.
The boy, who is from the Mowden area of Darlington, was on his way to the park with three friends when they were approached by 30 youths.
The teenager was pushed to the ground and kicked by some of the group.
The main aggressor was described as white, 16 to 17-years-old, thin, about 6ft 1ins with ginger shaved hair. He has a pale complexion and a long nose and was wearing a dark fleece top and dark bottoms.
He was with a second boy, about 15 years old, who was described as white, 5ft 6ins with a chubby round face, and was wearing a white sports jacket with the hood up.
Acting Inspector Steve Steen appealed for anyone who had witnessed the attack, or what led up to it, to get in touch with police.
He said: "This was a vicious attack and the victim ended up with a fractured wrist, a cut to his forehead and a swollen cheek."
