A NORTH Yorkshire woman has scooped a top prize for her soup recipe.
Mother-of-four Irene Bell is the national winner of the New Covent Garden Food Company's annual create-a-soup competition, run in the BBC Good Food Magazine.
Her recipe for spiced carrot and clementine soup will now be sold in supermarkets throughout the country as the firm's soup of the month.
Mrs Bell, from Middleton Tyas, near Richmond, runs a company which teaches cooking skills to nursery and primary schools.
Her recipe will be pub- lished in the Good Food Magazine.
Mike Faers, development director for the New Covent Garden Food Company, said: "We feel that Irene's carrot and clementine soup is a superb addition to our range.
"Our soups of the month are always extremely popular among consumers and we have great expectations for this soup.
"Her use of seasonal vegetables and fusion of carrots and clementines with a sprinkling of Christmas spices creates an evocative tasting soup which is perfect for the festive season.
