A MOTHER and daughter were in the pink last night after tallying up the takings from their one-off charity sale.
Elaine Hodgson and 14-year-old daughter, Rachel, hired a stall for the day at the In-Shops complex in Consett, County Durham.
They bought, or were given a range of goods and services, and spent the day selling them to raise funds as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Dressed in matching outfits of pyjamas and caps in the Breast Cancer Awareness campaign's adopted colour of pink, they were kept busy as trade was brisk from shoppers, including a number of children spending their pocket money during half-term week.
Mrs Hodgson said: "It's been fantastic, very busy at times and everything went by 1.30pm.
"I used to work at In-Shops and I knew everyone there. They gave us a good pitch and we got on well with everyone."
It became an effort by three generations as they were assisted by Mrs Hodgson's mother, Veronica Lambert.
Mrs Hodgson, who works at a Consett tanning and health studio, said she knows of a number of people who have been struck by different forms of cancer, including a rare example of a man who has been affected by breast cancer.
The sale raised £227, but she expects the total to exceed £250 when she adds the takings from breast cancer awareness badge sales at work and among friends.
