A DOORMAN who spiked a woman's drink with a date-rape drug is facing jail.
Michael Wright, 36, tipped the chemical into the victim's drink from a water bottle, saying it was vodka.
Shortly after, the woman collapsed and was taken to hospital, where she recovered.
At Newcastle Crown Court, Wright denied intentionally administering a substance without her consent to engage in sexual activity.
Wright, of Eastgarth, Newbiggin Hall, Newcastle, was convicted of the offence.
The victim, in her 20s, met Wright by chance while out in Newcastle in April.
Wright denied an alternative charge of unlawfully and maliciously administering a poison or noxious substance to the woman with intent to injure, aggrieve or annoy her.
Recorder Ben Nolan adjourned sentence for a month for reports.
He said: "In my judgement, there must be a substantial period of imprisonment. The only issue is how long."
