A MAYOR has made a plea to residents to help save a town's twinning links.
Pickering's association with Corbie, in France, is under threat, despite regular visits by representatives of both towns, because of a lack of people coming forward to take on positions.
Currently the association has only a secretary, Ann Bowley, and ten members.
Town mayor, Councillor Margaret Lowe, said: "The association is in a desperate situation, but it has played an important part in the life of Pickering for nearly 30 years, fostering links with Corbie, which has been to the benefit of both our towns."
A general meeting is to be held in the hope of setting up a new management committee.
Anyone interested in helping the association can contact Pickering Town Council clerk Andrew Husband on (01751) 476503.
