HEALTHY food and drink will be on the menu at North Yorkshire's first celebration of all things organic.

The Harrogate Organic Festival is being held at the Yorkshire Events Centre, on the Great Yorkshire Showground, on November 20, from 10am to 4pm.

Visitors will get a chance to sample a range of organic food and drinks and to discover how many organic products are available.

In addition to organic and fair trade food, wine and beer, local and national exhibitors will be offering sweets, skincare, baby care and household items, toys and healthcare products.

Also featuring at the event will be the Allergy Roadshow, promoting dozens of different medical, holistic and natural products and treatments for those who suffer from allergies of any kind.

"The mission is to put across the healthy-living ethos to the general public, young and old, and at the same time giving them an opportunity to sample organic products," said organiser Dean Wilson.

"Campaigners and eco-friendly organisations will also be provided with a platform to help consumers learn more about the vast diversity of organic products and services now available in the UK marketplace."

He added: "For the Harrogate event, we are extremely keen to establish links with local and regional organic producers, co-operatives, box schemes and eco-led bodies and organisations who may be interested in having a presence at the festival.

"In addition, we would like to foster partnerships with local schools, to give young people a hands-on taste of what healthy living is all about. Playing an educational role is also central to our whole philosophy."

Admission will be £2.50, concessions £2, with accompanied children under 16 free. Potential exhibitors and partners can contact Mr Wilson on (01943) 817369. There is also a website at www.organic festivals.co.uk
