A HORSEWOMAN who is tipped for Olympic glory will show her dressage skills at a demonstration this week.
Anne-Marie Perry, 18, from Hartlepool, is one of a handful of riders selected by the British Equestrian Federation for its World Class Start and Potential squad, and is one of the highest-rated youngsters in dressage.
Such is her reputation that 200 people are expected to attend the demonstration, Dressage with Anne-Marie, tomorrow night.
At the event, she will perform with three horses - a young horse, her main horse, which she has had since she was three, and an advanced horse, and said she was extremely proud to be headlining the event.
She said: "It is a big honour, especially for it to be up in the North-East.
"We try to fly the flag for the North-East, so it is an honour.
"I have been riding for as far back as I can remember and took up dressage when I was about 12. That is what I specialise in now."
Anne-Marie trains with instructor Patsy Bartram, from Derbyshire, and also trains with Marianne Watts, from Low Fold Farm Riding Centre, in Sunnybrow, Crook. The former Teesside High School pupil, who has received sponsorship from local brewery Camerons, said she hoped to represent England in the Olympics.
She said: "I am definitely aiming for them -it is my ultimate goal.
"It is a long way off, but all being well, and with a bit of luck and hard work, it is not out of the question."
Dressage with Anne-Marie will take place at 7pm at Stainsby Grange Riding Centre, in Thornaby, near Stockton. Admission is £10 for British Horse Society members and £12 for non-members.
