TOWN councillors who have been inundated with complaints from residents about the state of a town's grass verges have decided to put the work out to tender.
Kirkbymoorside's deputy mayor, Councillor Gaynor de Barr, said: "We have had numerous complaints."
For years, the verges at Kirkbymoorside and Pickering have been cut by North Yorkshire County Council's highways department and its contractors.
Kirkbymoorside town clerk Sandra Doubtfire said the cost of the work could be cheaper if all five town councils in Ryedale - Malton, Norton, Pickering, Helmsley and Kirkbymoorside - opted for the same contractor.
