AN event is being organised to help people in the Durham Dales beat the winter blues this year.
The Community Networks for Teesdale and Wear Valley is organising an open day on November 8 to prepare people for the winter months.
Topics covered will include keeping warm, rising fuel bills, the common cold and the stress of Christmas.
Representatives from local organisations including Wear Valley District Council, Teesdale Disability Awareness, the fire service, Teesdale and Wear Valley Action for Carers, National Energy Action, Renewable Energy at Local Level and the Citizens Advice Bureaux will be there to provide advice and information.
Health visitors will also be on hand with advice about winter menus and fuel.
Carol Lewis, Teesdale Community Network co-ordinator, said: "Everybody can benefit from saving a little energy. This event aims to provide a range of tailored, expert and impartial advice to help people relax and enjoy their winter as much as possible."
There will also be free items for visitors including refreshments, lightbulbs and fruit.
The open day is at Glaxo Sports and Social Club, in Barnard Castle, from 10am to 3pm.
