A VETERINARY surgery opened its doors to the public yesterday to offer an insight into its work.
Visitors to the Stanhope Park Veterinary Hospital, in Darlington, also had the chance to examine its equipment. Surgeons and nurses were available to demonstrate machinery ranging from a digital X-ray processor to a portable ultrasound device.
Staff were also on hand to answer questions on everything from animal blood donations to dentistry.
Youngsters had the chance to dress up as a vet and carry out an examination of a toy pet.
Practice partner Michaela Wright said: "This was a fun day to give people the chance to see how we work. We have enormous pride in our professional service and care of the animals we treat."
Proceeds from the open day will be donated to Durham Wildlife Trust.
