A FORMER Hollyoaks actor is opening a Halloween party in Derwentside on Sunday.
Martino Lazzeri, who played Alex Bell in the soap is judging the fancy dress competition at Blackhill and Consett Park during the event, which takes place from 4pm to 7pm.
There will be a variety of spooky activities, such as a ghost walk and a carved pumpkin competition.
It is being organised by the Rotary Club of Derwentside and funds raised by the event will go to local charities.
Mr Lazzeri is appearing in the Christmas pantomime, Dick Whittington, at the Empire Theatre, in Consett.
Vin Welch, father of actress Denise, has recently been cast in the role of Alderman Fitzwarren in the panto and will be coming along to the Halloween event, to help raise the profile of the show.
He is well-known in the region and was involved with Consett Theatre Workshop, before getting into Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, Emmerdale and Byker Grove and then working for Live Theatre on Newcastle Quayside.
The activities at the park will be rounded off with a fireworks display.
