NORTH-EAST duo Journey South took a step closer to music stardom as television talent show X Factor descended into a row about the judges.
Teesside brothers Andy and Carl Pemberton survived the public vote on Saturday night to make it into the final ten acts.
But their achievements have been overshadowed by claims from rejected boy band 4Tune that the contest has become a vendetta between judges Louis Walsh and Simon Cowell.
The band was booted off the show on Saturday night after a nail-biting finish which pitted them against solo singer Chenai.
After Cowell chose to save his act 4Tune from elimination, Walsh picked his singer Chenai, leaving Sharon Osbourne to decide their fate.
The boys - Anthony Hannides, 18, his brother Mike 21, Phil Kemish, 18 and Simon Bitsaides, 22 - were devastated to be out so early.
Anthony said: "I felt it was personal rather than about our performance."
