POLICE combating the misuse of fireworks have identified a number of "hot spots" in the run up to November 5.
Officers have worked with fire crews to pinpoint those areas of Chester-le-Street district which suffer particular problems.
Homes in the areas identified are to be sent leaflets offering safety advice and outlining the law.
Community beat officer Dean Pearson said that in the past few weeks about 1,700 primary schoolchildren from the area have attended a community safety carousel highlighting the risks of fireworks.
