FAMILIES in east Durham are being encouraged to start a new chapter of healthy living.
Easington Colliery Library, in Seaside Lane South, is holding a week of events to encourage families to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
The Health Week, which has been organised in partnership with Easington Primary Care Trust (PCT), will run from Monday to next Thursday.
Activities begin on Monday, when the PCT's 5 A Day team will be creating healthy Halloween treats for visitors to the library.
The Health for All team will visit the library on Tuesday, when they will be holding an apple-tasting event.
Visitors on the day will also be able to find out about food co-operatives and community allotments.
On Thursday morning, the smoking cessation team will be helping people kick the habit during a drop-in session.
And on Thursday afternoon everyone will be encouraged to put their best foot forward and take part in a leisurely walk around the area.
This event, organised by the Get Active team, has been designed for all ages and abilities.
