A NORTH Yorkshire school is celebrating sporting success in two fields of endeavour.
Youngsters at Northallerton College have been making their mark in the worlds of both netball and rugby.
In netball, the A team took the honours in the U19s Hambleton and Richmondshire competition at Stokesley School, while the B team came in third. They will now compete in a county competition at Harrogate's Ashville College on November 19.
The winning team comprised goal shooter Natalie Williams, goal attack Helen Briggs, wing attack Jenna Sharda, centre Kirsty Thompson, wing defence Allanda Crow, goal defence Hannah Goldie and keeper Rebecca Parr.
They won all their matches to take the honours, beating Easingwold School into second place.
Head of sport Ruth Curtis said: "Netball seems to be going from strength to strength at college. We have two U19 teams and reserves. I have high hopes for the future and they are all training extremely hard."
Meanwhile, on the rugby pitch, Lee Johnson, 15, and Liam Kendall, 15, have battled their way through selection trials to compete at a higher level. Lee, who plays hooker, has been selected to play for the Hambleton and District U16 squad while Liam, who plays open side flanker, has been chosen for the North Yorkshire U16s.
Full back Shane Darby, 15, has also been selected to play for Hambleton and North Yorkshire.
"We are really pleased for the boys," said Ms Curtis.
"They are dedicated players with real talent and to be selected to play at this higher level is recognition of their efforts."
