CADETS from Bishop Auckland, Spennymoor and Willington were put through their paces during a two-day event to give young people a taste of Army life.
The 4th Regiment Recruiting Team Royal challenged the teenagers to a series of tasks, including assault courses.
As well as the event at the Territorial Army Centre, the team toured Bishop Auckland talking to potential recruits.
Warrant Officer Tony Masters, senior recruiter at the Bishop Auckland Army Careers Information Office, said: "We know that the best way for young people to find out what life is really like in the Army is for them to speak directly to serving soldiers, so we've been out and about to give them a chance to do so.
"Bishop Auckland, Spennymoor and Willington all have very strong cadet movements, which is encouraging for recruitment."
