A 16-YEAR-OLD has been charged in connection with a road accident that left a pensioner in hospital.
The Middlesbrough youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before Teesside magistrates on Saturday charged with dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle taking, having no insurance, driving without a licence and failing to stop for police.
The 75-year-old woman suffered a broken hip, cracked ribs and internal injuries in the crash, at 11.40pm on Thursday, in Keith Road, Grove Hill, Middlesbrough. The pensioner was a passenger in a Toyota Rav 4, which rolled over after impact.
It is alleged the youth was being pursued by police as he crashed a Ford Escort.
Witnesses are asked to call police on (01642) 303126.
