TWO teenagers were arrested after a woman went into a supermarket and told staff she had seen one of them with a gun in the car park.
The woman went into Tesco at Delves Lane, near Consett, at 1.30pm yesterday to report her concerns after she saw one of the youths put the weapon inside his jacket.
The two youths followed her into the store and were trailed from a distance as they made their way around.
They left without buying anything and police were called.
Two officers went to Tesco and took descriptions beforesearching for them.
The area was sealed off and armed response officers were deployed.
The pair were arrested at 2.30pm in First Street Crookhall, Consett, on suspicion of possessing an imitation firearm. Ball-bearing (BB) guns were recovered from a nearby property.
Last night, the 14 and 15-year-olds from the Consett area were being interviewed by police.
