THE prostate cancer research fund at The James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, has netted £2,295 thanks to a tennis centre.
Members of Tennis World attended a summer ball, in June, to raise funds for patients who are suffering from the disease.
Local councillor Peter Porley, also a member of the Tennis World board, spent time on ward five as a patient and was so grateful for the care he received in hospital he chose the ward as his nominated charity.
He presented a cheque to lead clinician, David Chadwick, along with Tennis World president Foster Garton.
Mr Garton said: "We are delighted to be able to help the hospital again and would like to say to staff keep up the good work."
Mr Chadwick added: "The money will be used for the benefit of prostate cancer patients across Teesside. This includes the provision of information and support for patients and their families and it will also be used for the purchase of equipment and for staff training."
