MEMORIES of the nail-biting Test series, which saw England beat Australia to regain the Ashes, have been rekindled in a newly published book.
Ashes Victory is part diary and part factual reports of the recent glorious win and was written and compiled by one of the North-East's Ashes heroes.
Paul Collingwood, who hails from Shotley Bridge and plays for Durham County, was also a member of the winning England squad.
Now the all-rounder has come up with a book evoking the series, which ended in an historic victory for England.
Collingwood was at Waterstone's book shop, in Newcastle, to sign copies of Ashes Victory.
It is published by Orion and costs £17.99, but is being promoted in the Newcastle store at £12.99.
A spokeswoman for Waterstone's said: "It is already selling very well. There is no doubt that winning the Ashes captured everyone's imagination and now they can read a behind-the-scenes account of the winning Test series."
