YOUNGSTERS embraced the healthy living message yesterday with the help of footballers and dancers.
Coaches from Middlesbrough FC joined professionals from Tees Valley Dance organisation at Heathfield Primary School, Darlington.
The two groups have joined forces to create a lecture that will tour schools, showing how a healthy lifestyle can reap rewards.
The project has been funded by Arts Council England, Darlington Primary Care Trust, Darlington Borough Council and Darlington Healthy Schools, and is supported by Darlington Arts and Sports Development.
Artistic director of Tees Valley Dance, Kristine Sommerlade, said: "When the dancers and footballers first met and starting talking we were amazed at how similar our training methods were.
"By seeing professional athletes demonstrating how they keep healthy - and the benefits that gives their performance - we aim to encourage the young people to take regular physical exercise."
