A MAN was being questioned by police last night on suspicion of burglary following an appeal for witnesses in The Northern Echo.
Police last night said they had been inundated with calls from the public following the article in yesterday's paper.
A 20 year-old-man, from Crook, was arrested in the Watergate Estate area of the town.
Police made an appeal for information following a number of distraction burglaries in the Crook area, including Rumby Hill and Helmington Row in recent weeks.
Detective Sergeant Dunny McCubbin, from Crook police, said: "We had an excellent response to the article. We received numerous calls from residents."
