FIRE juggler Matt Robinson has a new burning ambition in life - to be a musician.
The 20-year-old is now weeks into a music technology course, taking a dramatic turn away from his more dangerous pastime.
Mr Robinson, from Newton Aycliffe, is studying a Btec music technology course at Darlington College of Technology with his two friends, and all three want to find work in the music industry.
"The course is great," said Mr Robinson. "I love the music, but also the fact we learn how to work in a recording studio and with lighting, in fact everything you need to promote a band.
"I saw someone juggling with fire at a music festival and thought it would be good to learn, but that particular skill will be taking a back seat now."
Guitarist Ross Balfour and drummer Jason Crowe are also new to the course. "I'm also hoping to get a job in the music industry," said Ross, 17. "I've always been interested in the kit and now I'm learning how to use it."
Jason, 17, added: "I would love to be a roadie and am really enjoying learning how to set up a stage. Music is fantastic, the ultimate escape, and it's something that will always be there."
Tutor Matt Bell said: "There is plenty of young talent out there, often playing unheard. The course provides the opportunity to get the break that is needed."
