THE Lord Mayor of York was treated to a bird's eye view of her city during a fact-finding visit to an air base.
Councillor Janet Greenwood was one of a number of VIPs, including the Lord Lieutenant of North Yorkshire, Lord Crathorne, who visited RAF Linton-on-Ouse.
And she took a trip in a Grob Tutor training aircraft, of the Yorkshire Universities Air Squadron, piloted by instructor Squadron Leader Al Morrison.
Coun Greenwood and her party visited most of the areas on the base and were given an in depth brief into how RAF pilots are trained by station commander Group Captain Andy Sudlow.
